The Double Decker Car

How does the Mitsubishi i stack up against the the worlds first double decker car (2 x Smart Fortwo)? The Mitsubishi i is the first four door automobile since the 1960s to employ a "rear midship" setup with the engine behind the passengers, in an attempt to improve safety and interior space without enlarging the overall exterior. The i won the 2007 Car of the Year award from the Japanese Automotive Researchers and Journalists Conference. The Smart "Micro compact car" was designed primarily for urban use in European cities, where parking is scarce and fuel economy is of great importance. The Smart fortwo's length of only 8ft 10in allows as many as three of the vehicles to be parked in the space normally taken by one standard-length car.
